Why doesn't the generator let me pick specific letters?
A NINO's letters don't encode anything meaningful to choose from (unlike, say, PAN's holder-type letter) — HMRC's letter rules exist purely to make certain characters and combinations impossible, not to signal something about the holder. So the generator just picks randomly from the letters HMRC allows in each position.
Is this a real NINO?
No. The letters, digits, and suffix are all randomly generated (following HMRC's documented restrictions), so the result is not assigned to any real person by HMRC.
Will the generator ever produce QQ123456C or another reserved prefix?
